Career Advisory Services (CAS) of the School of Rural Management is the apex body in charge of all activities related to placements. Industry Relations of the School of Rural Management is also managed by the CAS team, thereby forming a nexus between the student fraternity of School of Rural Management and the industry. The core competency of the CAS team is in building corporate relationships, corporate communications, marketing of the school to the industry and, carrying out the annual placement process of the final year management batch as well as the Summer Internship Placements for the first-year students.


The Summer Internship Programme forms an integral component of the MBA course with an attempt to bridge the gap between student’s perception about academics and the corporate world. Under this programme, students undergo an 8-week internship at organizations where they are encouraged to take up time-bound multidisciplinary and goal-oriented assignments. During this period, the students seek to learn the various dimensions and operations of their respective organizations. This not only enhances their analytical and decision-making abilities but with hands-on experience further grooms them to be future managers.


The placements witness a multitude of roles from BFSI, consultancy, development, financial inclusion, healthcare and marketing, and sales. The present trend of placements highlighted a special focus on financial inclusion and revival of the microfinance sector and the maximum package was fetched by the sales and marketing sector. Along with the regular recruiters of the RM program in Xavier University, Bhubaneswar such as AMUL, ICICI Bank, Ujjivan Small Finance Bank, PRADAN and Spandana Spoorthy, several new companies showed a keen interest in the batch. Some of the new recruiters were MGNCRE, Oyo, Berger, Cryogenex Hitech Group among others.


The Leadership Talks organized by RM CAS facilitates industry leaders to deliver corporate insights to budding Rural Managers on different fields existing in, and on different practices adapted by the industry. These talks provide an opportunity for the students to sensitize and brainstorm themselves with current trends followed by the industry.

  • Mr. Siddharth Deshmukh, National Head - Modern Trade and General Trade for OnePlus Technology (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd., delivered a Talk on 2nd February 2020 on “Supply Chain Management”. The Speaker talked about the role of general trade in catering offline business of the handset industry and its distribution in the Rural market.
  • Shri Dr. W. G. Prasana Kumar,Chairman, Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education (MGNCRE), delivered a talk on 10th January 2020. The Speaker talked about “Government policies in Rural management”. He elaborated on the skills required for being a good leader and several restrains the government officials face while making a decision. He also sensitized the need for Rural Management studies in an undergraduate program.
  • Mr. Pavan Kaushik,Director - Communication & Public Relations for Federation of Indian Mineral Industries, delivered a Talk on 24th January 2020 on “Social Campaign for rural and economic development”. The Speaker talked about various strategies involved in social development by the proper utilization of CSR funds and have also shared his experience in merger and acquisition of India's largest Oil and Gas companies.
  • Mr. Aditya Verma,Vice President - Procurement & Operations for Emami Group, delivered a Talk on 8th January 2020 on “Evolving trends in supply chain and operations”. The speaker typed about the significance of empathy, integrity, and sympathy that acts as a value system for an individual's growth. He also talked about the volatile market situation, procosticide and supply chain operations that are the game-changer in the current market scenario.
  • Mr. Naveen Kejriwal,General Manager - Eastern India for Lenovo India, delivered a Talk on 14th September 2019 on “Marketing and evolving practices in E-Commerce platforms”. The speaker talked about "Art of asking question decides, whether the product is going to sell or not?".
  • Mr. Abin Kumar Mukhopadhay, Head-Internal Audit for Arohan Financial Services Ltd., delivered a Talk on 6th August 2019 on “Importance of Financial institutions in Rural Entrepreneurship and Financial Inclusion”. The Speaker talked about the importance of innovation and control in the changing financial inclusion landscape.
  • Mr. Debraj Behera,Consultant of Global Food and Agriculture Practice (GFADR) at the World Bank, National Mission Manager for National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), delivered a Talk on 3rd August 2019 on “Reducing Rural Poverty by enabling wage employment and self-employment opportunities”. The Speaker talked about the importance of generating more and better jobs through sustainable rural growth, and how agriculture can help improve it.
  • Dr. Ashok Panda, Zonal Manager, for ChildFund International and Mr. Himanshu Singh, Area Manager for ChildFund India, delivered a Talk on 20th July 2019 on “Community Mobilisation and combating child exploitation”. The Speakers highlighted the ingenious framework adopted by ChildFund to combat child exploitation.
